It’s not about judgement, it’s just about questioning our values and what we perceive to be important. Traditional, heteronormative masculinity is prized quite highly in both straight and queer communities. That man’s fashion choices are an example of said masculinity. Why do we value it? Why do we value heterosexual relationship models? Why do we value aggression?
We have been shown time and time and time again that these structures do not benefit queer or straight people. His shoes are one example. They fall into a rigid frame of acceptable masculinity, yet they are an affront to my sensibilities.
What are your thoughts on "str8 acting" men in the gay community?
Yesterday there was a man at my gym who, I guess, forgot his gym shoes so he was instead wearing a pair of argyle socks and those gross pointy toed lace-ups that cause me to gag involuntarily. I was so disgusted I took a picture.

This may seem incredibly petty but I think we can use this as a jumping off point to question why and what we value about actual or perceived heterosexuality.
